Editing Comercial Blog

Today me and my group reshot a couple of scenes for our commercial in order to get the best scene possible that will produce a quality commercial. The scenes that we reshoot were the talking scene between the actor and me. As well as the sleeping scene in which the actor is sleeping on the bench. Also, the scene in which the actor smiles at the camera and eats the donuts. I directed all aspects of this reshoot as well as the commercial. Me and Stephanie also shot a different location. As well as positioning that camera in various ways to see which looked better visually. We then dumped all the footage from the school computer to my current laptop. We did this by saving all the footage on to a thumb drive and inserting into my computer and uploading all the files into my google drive. Which was difficult because most of the computers were not functioning.
Like previously mentioned the school computer was not functioning properly. The computers failed to connect to the internet. As well as the editing software did not work. Due to this, I was not able to edit the commercials. However, during this time, I  created an outline and the editing steps that must be taken to create the final product. Some examples of this is that half of the commercial will be shot in white and black. The reason for this decision is two show how much Dunkin Donuts can impact one life. Another strategy we have decided to take is to create a split-screen also in black and white. As well as inserting different items in the commercial to make it more presentable. All this in hopes to find a perfects shot.
Today I and my partners also decided on which is the best shots that will remain the commercial. This included taking out longer shots that were more than six seconds. As well as cutting out shots that are shakey and do not fully represent the vision in which I and my team are going for. Some of the shot included low angles of the actor walking. As well as establishing shots of the benches. During this time we also added a voiceover. A voice-over is when sound is added later on during the editing process. The reason why we chose to do a voice-over was that I felt as though the commercial will make much more sense because there was no dialogue that was spoken. During this time we also chose the music that will be played throughout the commercial. All in all today was a good day for outlining the exact steps we must take in the editing process.

Filming Blog

Today me and my partners filmed our commercial we each brought  a variety of things to complete our commercial. I was the director. I brought a variety of Dunkin Donuts as well as Ice coffee and regular coffee. My other partners brought the clothing and more. Me and my group ran into issues because we didn't now how to put the camera on the tripod. We were running out of time so I made a executive decisions and decided to just do all the shots handheld. This created an issue because each shot was shaky and not the best it could have been if it was shot on a  tripod. After asking a few people in my class to see if they knew how to put the tripod on the camera and no one knowing how. I finally found someone she taught how to put the camera on the tripod the issue was were missing a piece to connect the tripod and the camera. We still had an issue though even though the camera was on the tripod it was lose. I had to be extremely careful with using the tripod in fear that I don't drop the camera.  However I managed and still got some good shots,
We filmed various shots. First and foremost we shot an establishing shot of the benches in front of the band room. We filmed this shot twice and then we did this version while my partner was walking. We also shot another version of this establishing shot with the main actor drinking coffee and walking. While doing this shot I alternated between zooming and zooming out on these shots. The second shot I directed was a low angle of the actor walking, I filmed this shot four times. The  next shot included a long shot of partner sleeping on the bench I panned this shot. During this shot I moved the camera along my partner body and then closed up on her face. I repeated this shot multiple times and recorded this at different times. My partner went to go change in the next outfit and I set up the camera at a different location. At this point I had stop directing and became and actor.
My partner took control of the camera while I became an actor. This scene where I became an actor and Asia shot the same concept in three different scenes. The first scene was of me walking up to the main actor with a coffee in my hand and an Ice Coffee in her and we start chatting. The second scene is of me already there with the actor and we are talking. The last and final scene of this same concept is me talking to the actor  but with and over the shoulder view. At this point me and my group were running out of time so we decided to re shoot a bunch a scene quickly with the tripod. When we were done we went upstairs and dumped our footage. Dumping the footage took time because there was not a lot available computers that worked fast enough. We we finally found a computer that worked we dumped all our footage labeled it and returned all the equipment to our teacher.

Storyboard Blog

Today my partners and I are creating our storyboard which is a comic representation of the entire commercial including the aspects of camera movements, camera angles, dialogue, and more. Our first six-second of the commercial consist of the actor walking to a destination at a low angle. The second six seconds consist of a wide shot and an establishing shot of the actor in pajamas sleeping on a bench in front of the school. The third six seconds is of the actor in more presentable ware such as a denim skirt, striped shirt, as well as presentable hair. Also in this third six seconds actor will talk to friends joyful while eating a donut and drinking ice coffee from Dunkin Donuts. At the 24 second mark, there will be a split-screen of the two different scenarios presented previously. The last six seconds will consist of an insert of prices of different Dunkin Donuts options.

Editing Blog

Today we learned editing notes that will be beneficial in our process of making the commercial. Also it will be extremely beneficial for me and partners when we start our future project like the music video and such. I first have to get a sign out form to be able to use the camera. After that me and my group have to check out the camera as soon as possible. As soon as we get the camera I have to look at the number on the camera and remember it. Everyday that I film I must have my ID for identification purposes in case something happens.  I will bring my own SD camera as well as always charge the camera.
Today in class we also learned important key word needed to be successful in our process. A few are pinnacle studies which  is an editing app. Dump is all the footage that a person collects. Import is importing all the footage from the drive to the editing software. The raw footage is all the footage that is uncut and not edited. Lastly we learned lendenng which is make the footage smooth. All these key words are beneficial when we start the editing process.
The last thing that we learned in class was the exact process we much grow  through for editing. We only have one day to film the commercial and the same day me and my partners  may start editing. The first step of the editing process is go to editing software and click edit. After that import footage to editing software. I must then click on the folder that says camera and import footage. Those are just a few steps that me and partners need to take during the editing process. All in all the editing process is interesting and allows to take piece of art in a sense and make it better.

Research Conventions and Conduct

Our group having chosen Dunkin Donuts to be our commercial, we have seen most of their commercials on TV or on YouTube. Usually their commercials are revolved around the daily life of individuals at home, at work, or in the store. One example, is a commercial in 2019 that had a black man starring on his lunch break eating two bacon, egg and cheese croissant at the same time. Inferring to the audience of how good the sandwich is based on the fact that he is eating two of them. Another example that Dunkin Donuts uses to show how beneficially they are in people's daily life is that the commercial shows a tired, messy haired mother waking up to her kids running and screaming but smiles while she takes a a sip of her Dunkin Donuts Coffee. At the end of every Dunkin Donuts commercial they try to promote their new deal for breakfast and coffee such as the 2 for $5.00 for any breakfast sandwich and the $2.00 medium latte from 2-6 p.m.
The actors in the commercial are usually of different races, culture, classes, and sizes to show that Dunkin Donuts run on the people or families. The locations of most of the scenes are either at the store, at work in an office, or at home with a family. Most of their commercial has soft music playing in the background to get that sense that Dunkin Donuts is a comfortable, safe place. The narrator in the commercials are usually a soft spoken woman with a clear voice. The commercials end with the their logo and catch phrase so that people watching the commercial can remember the catchy catch phrase for breakfast and lunch.

Introduction

My name is Jeannie and I could be considered a walking contradiction. I am what you call a difficult person. I believe in the simple things: life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness so in lamens terms my beliefs are what I have been taught growing in the United States of America. However, I do realize that a person's class, age. sex may hinder them from reaching that "American Dream". Now we can argue about why that is an accepted reality but there is only one real answer we as a society have allowed the 1 percent of the 1 percent to dictate the course of our life.
Moving past this notion in my head on what life is my likes and dislikes. I like reading a lot that is honestly what I prefer to due there is something about someone burying themselves in a book that entrances me. I like how powerful words can be so as a result, I like reading a lot. Now my favorite types of books, articles, essays are the ones that say something important or envokes and idea or a message in society. My favorite book/movie is "Call Me By Your Name" by Andre Aciman. I love music, my taste varies depending on the mood I'm in. An example is on my good days I prefer something upbeat and on my bad days well you can just guess. I don't have a favorite artist I think people who do are weird. I like writing, I have written a book, I like art, poetry, art, directing, science especially biology, and plenty more but I also love sleeping. My dislikes all stem from human behavior. I hate people who are mean for no reason. I dislike the idea that my life may not amount to nothing, I dislike people who are okay with settling for less than what they deserve, I hate the greedy people who oppress the rest of us for their benefit. I dislike the fact that some people get notice for doing dumb things whereas the people who try to make a change do not.
Lastly, I take all the higher-level classes. My favorite class is Ap English, but that is just because my teacher is extremely funny. I would like to believe that I'm smart but that is hard for me to grasp when the standard of smartness is determined by test.  I also believe that is not a proper way to measure someone's intelligence level but like I said before we have accepted that norm. Anyways that is me in a nutshell.
