Our first genre research assignment was randomly given to each group or individual to learn the different CAMS (Camera angles, movements, and shots) and CLAMPS (costume, lighting, actors, makeup, props, and settings) that went into the specific genre we had to research about. We had to make sure our power-point was creative and had all the information to describe the genre conventions in order to get a passing grade. We had to make sure that we were researching the overall genre and not any sub-genres. The genre my partner Stephanie received was War while I received Action. Since this was our first assignment ever using the key terms and vocabulary we learned this research assignment really helped open our eyes on what goes into a movie such as all the little details. With this genre research research assignment we were supposed to learn about all the aspects of the different genres through the power-points. For this assignment we were given a rubric to make sure we had everything in our power-point and to know what to specifically research. Overall the assignment benefited us through the next projects such as the commercial, music video, and will definitely help us with the final task.
