Title Research: (Thriller) Godzilla: Final Wars

  1. How many titles are displayed during the opening scenes to the film?
In the opening sequence video I watched there was a total of 40 titles that were shown in the Godzilla: Final Wars movie on the website Watch the Titles.

     2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

The main images prioritized in the opening sequence was the main events from the movie showing this Godzilla monster attacking a town with fearful people running away from it. The other main image were the dates which was in a large, blood red font to evoke the Thriller sense in the movie.

3.What connotations do the images carry?

The images create a negative connotation and feeling that something bad or deadly was going to happen by showing Godzilla attacking the people and the color red being symbolic in the whole opening sequence which creates a feeling that it might be the people's blood.

      4. How is the genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?

The ending creates a sense of suspense or mystery by zooming in on Godzilla who is apparently stuck or frozen in a huge ice cap. The whole opening sequence showing buildings destroyed, people running away, and the dark low-key lighting add to a thriller sense and the genre of Thriller and Mystery is reinforced through the opening sequence.

       5. How does the film establish an enigma from the outset?

The film establishes an enigma by leaving us wondering how Godzilla this giant monster came to be and wonder how this monster is alive after being frozen up for so long.

      6. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

The Godzilla: Final Wars movie uses dates throughout the entire opening sequence to attract to an audience that prefers movies in an order or set time period. The movie also attracts audiences that look up to monsters and different creatures and prefer a sci-fi type of movie without it actually being a sci-fi film.
