Title Research: Thriller (Venom)


  1. How many titles are displayed during the opening scenes to the film
           - In the opening scenes of "Venom," there are 30 titles displayed in the opening scenes of the film.

2.   What images are prioritized in the opening scene?
       - In the opening sequence, the scenes that are most prioritized are the transition of a person having a normal body, brain, and cells to them being infected by venom and becoming a different creature.

3. What connotations does the image carry?
    - The connotations that the images carry is one of someone transforming into something they were not originally. The image also carries the connotations of evil and monster and how people as humans can be infected something like greed or money and money and become evil. The overall connotations that are carried are what the movie is going to be about.

4. How is the genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset
    -The genre is reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the beginning because the opening sequences use common elements that are common in thriller movies. To further explain the opening sequence uses dark images and red lettering to symbolize evil and death. Which happens in most openings in thriller movies. The technical codes reinforce the genre in the way that symbolic does. An example of this the camera angle at are fast pace which is common with thriller movies.

5. How does the film establish an enigma from the outset?
    - The film establishes enigma from the beginning by make all the titles appear and disappear fast so a viewer doesn't have time to sit and think about. This builds up the mystery and makes the viewer want to keep watching. The film also does this by showing pictures of a man turning into a monster which is uncommon making the film seem more enigmatic.

6. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience.
    - The strategies that were used as the choice of music. The music was a song that a younger generation would be more likely to use. Another strategy that was used as the image, all the images where either black, red, white to suggest a more scary movie that is suitable for a younger generation.

7. How was technology been used effectively?
     -  The technology was used effectively in fulfilling the purpose of what an opening scene is about. To further explain the opening scenes is used to entice the audience and make viewers want to continue to watch the movie. The technology was used effectively in doing this, an example is the transitions that were quick and fast-paced which makes viewers want to know what's going to happen. Due to the fact that they couldn't really sit and think about what it is happening in the opening scene because it is so fast-paced
